Ralph BRUINSMA

BRUINSMA Ralph 1919 - 2008 Ralph Sgoard Bruinsma of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully with his family at his side at the Lacombe Hospital & Care Centre on Sunday, April 6, 2008. Ralph was born in Oosterbierum, Friesland, Holland, where he served in the Motorcycle Infantry in the second World War. He was married to Corry Johanna Fritz in 1948 immigrating from Holland to Canada in 1949, settling in the Innisfail, Olds area where he was a sponsored farmer until 1959. Following the births of their son and two daughters, the family moved to the Rocky Mountain House area, where he purchased his own farm. The family succeeded to build it into a prosperous mixed farming operation. Ralph had a passion for beef cattle, involving his children in 4-H, both horses and beef. Following their retirement in 1985, Ralph and Corry moved to Lacombe, Alberta. Ralph was an avid camper and fulfilled that hobby with Corry, spending many winters R.Ving in Palm Springs, California and Yuma, Arizona. He also enjoyed square dancing and golfing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Corry one son John (Jan) of Creston, BC, two daughters, Marylou (Danny) of Smoky Lake, AB and Carolyn (Tyrone) Faechner of Sherwood Park, AB, along with seven grandchildren. Ralph was predeceased by two brothers. A Celebration of his life will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe, AB on Saturday April 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.. Interment will be at the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery, followed by the reception at St. Andrew's United Church Hall. Special thanks to the staff on Unit B at the Lacombe Hospital & Care Centre.
