REEKIE, 1938 - 2006 Heather Margaret Reekie of Red Deer, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, July 24, 2006 at the age of 68 years. Heather was born on March 30, 1938 at Lacombe, Alberta, to parents, Amy and Alex Graham of the Joffre District. She grew up on the family farm attending the local Brookfield School and later Red Deer Composite High School. Her early work experiences included demonstrating pianos at the Heintzman Piano Company in Calgary, and later working for several years at Red Deer Hospital’s Admitting Department. Heather’s great talent was her ear for music and her extraordinary ability at the piano – both gifts emerging at an early age. These led to a lifetime of entertaining at family gatherings, senior’s residences and at any number of special events. For many years, she enjoyed accompanying local musicians and playing piano with dance bands in the Central Alberta Area. Heather was a fun-loving lady, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, an excellent homemaker, cook and gardener, who greatly valued her family and her many friends of all ages. Heather leaves to mourn her loss, her son, Bruce Reekie, step-daughters, Robin Harper (Keith), Belinda Mainprize (Ken), Jody Reekie and their families; brother, Donald Graham (Colleen); brother-in-law, Harold Steele; nieces, Marlene Graham and Audrey Graham-Thievin, Lois Conklin and families; nephews, Ken, Neil, Stuart Steele, Ross Graham and their families.
