REHORICK

May 19, 2007

REHORICK, 1914-2007 Michael Rehorick passed away on May 17 at the age of 93 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. He was born in Morecambe, Alberta in 1914, the younger child of an Alberta farming family. He was predeceased by his parents John Hyrhoriak and Pearl Elkow, by his sister Anne, and by his wife Carrie (Lecaria). Michael engaged with commitment and hard work to all tasks, beginning with farming as a young man, twenty years in business, and to his passionate desire to pursue higher education. He completed a high school diploma in Edmonton, continued through the Teachers' Training Program at Camrose Normal School, and culminating with his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Alberta in 1970. He was a dedicated teacher of business education at Lindsay Thurber High School in Red Deer for more than 15 years. All his students loved him, and many continued to communicate with him after they graduated. Michael had a deep and enduring love for his family. He was devoted to his wife Carrie, and her death in 1979 left him bereft. But his love of teaching carried him forward, and he continued to teach night classes until after age 80. He is survived by his son David (Vancouver), daughter-in-law Sally (Campbell), and one grandson, Nathan. Michael supported with pride and joy their individual pursuits of higher education. A memorial service will be organized and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Fund, Red Deer Regional Hospital Foundation Office, P.O.
