SALOMONS, Renee SALOMONS

In loving memory of

Renee (Reinskje) Bruinsma Salomons. God gave her life on August 6, 1907, and God called her home on February 3, 2005. Lovingly remembered by her children, George & Jackie Bruinsma of Mission, BC, Pearl & Cor Nienhuis of Abbotsford, BC, Gaye & William Thurner of Armstrong, BC, Herman & Ena Bruinsma of St. Albert, AB, Ralph & Jane Briunsma of Lethbridge, AB, Andrew & Loretta Bruinsma of Redlands, CA; sons-in-law, Ron Huisman of Beiseker, AB, John Bruinsma of Edmonton, AB; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Ralph & Corry Bruinsma of Lacombe, AB; special friend Francis (Joe) VanderWekken; and 4 step-children and

their families from the

Salomons family. Renee was predeceased by her parents and sister; her second son, Jan on December 25, 1942; her husband Karsjen Bruinsma on February 6, 1965; her second husband Henry Salomons on December 24, 1998; and her daughter Joanne Huisman on March 31, 1999. Mom was born in Tzummarum, Friesland, the Netherlands, the daughter of Geert & Pietje Andringa. She married Karsjen on June 5, 1930 at Oosterbierum, Friesland, and was blessed with the births of 6 sons and 3 daughters. In the fall of 1948, the family bade farewell to relatives and friends and immigrated to Canada, arriving in Innisfail, Alberta on November 5, 1948. After moving to several different locations in Alberta, Mom & Dad bought the Winslow farm east of Lacombe in 1958. They enjoyed the farm life and Mom continued to live there after her husband Karsjen's death until she moved to Lacombe in 1968. She married Henry Salomons on April 8, 1978. They enjoyed spending their winters at Sky Valley Park in Desert Hot Springs, CA for many years. After her second husband Henry passed away in 1998, Mom moved to Victoria Park Senior's residence in Red Deer and lived there until 2001 when she first moved into the Olds nursing home temporarily and then the Lacombe Community Health Care Centre to be near family and friends. The Bruinsma family would like to say a special thank you to Francis VanderWekken and the care givers at the Lacombe Community Health Care Centre for their wonderful care of Renee in the last years of her life. We were blessed to have Mom with us for so many years. She was happy to have her family visit with her but also understood when it was time for them to return to their homes. Mom never complained and was always thankful for everything she received. She prayed daily for her children and their families. Even when her memory was failing she graciously greeted all visitors with a smile. Her faith and courage have been an inspiration for us all and we thank God for the example she gave us. Funeral Service will be held at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 5704 - 51 Ave., Lacombe, AB on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Lacombe Christian School, 5206-58 St. , Lacombe, AB. T4L 1G9. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to wfch@telusplanet.net (Subject Salomons).
