Richard GITTINS

GITTINS Richard Joseph Anthony Gittins passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre of August 27, 2006 at the age of 79 years. Richard was born and raised on the family farm in the sunset hills district seven miles west of Bentley on July 27, 1927. He worked for different farmers in the area while on rigs and in bush camps. On May 15, 1959 he marred Donna Pike. In 1970 they moved to Rocky Mountain House where he worked for Quinn Contracting. They moved back to Bentley in the fall of 1988 when he retired. His hobbies were gardening in the summer and fishing and curling in the winter. Predeceased by his father in March, 1954, his mother in May 1995 and a brother, John in March 1930, he will be remembered by his wife of 47 years. Donna, five brothers, Joe of Red Deer, Ralph and Jim (Vivian) of Bentley, Fred (Joan) and Tom (Jan) of Edmonton, six sisters, Mary of Rimbey, Martha of Winfield, Florence (Doug) Pike of Bentley, Louise of Red Deer, Dorothy (John) Mellon and Sally of Lacombe as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Bentley Community Church on Thursday August 31, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bentley Cemetery, If friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
