BROWNLEE


Robert John Oliver Brownlee of Red Deer passed away on March 22, 2017 at age 78. Born in Innisfail, Alberta, July 11, 1938 to Mary and Angus Brownlee and was the 2nd of 10 children. While living the first half of his life at Kevisville, the year-round farming included winters of working oil rigs and operating the family sawmill at timber berths out west. There was also a PMU barn of 36 mares for 2 winters. After leaving Kevisville, Robert lived in Calgary and then moved to Ponoka where he resided until he sold his house. He lived in Legacy Estates in Red Deer for 3 years before moving to Bethany Collegeside where he passed away. In 1953 he married Josephine Foesier of Caroline and they had 4 daughters before separating in 1981. He is survived by daughters, Catherine Brownlee (Calgary), Roxanne (Darwin) Kirton (Red Deer), Stephanie Michalko (Red Deer); grandchildren, Paige and Malia Michalko, Reighan and Jared Kirton; sisters, Marlene, Clare and brothers, Gordon, Harold and Alec. He was predeceased by his daughter, Maxine, in 1974; his parents, sisters, Alberta, Nellie, Barbara, and brother Norman. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Ponoka, 5109 - 57 Avenue. Cold food or snack contribution for the pot luck after the service, would be greatly appreciated.
