HICKLE

1942 - 2017

Robert John "Uncle Bob" Hickle of Red Deer passed away at Points West Living on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the age of 75 years. Bob was born in Hanna, Alberta, and grew in up the Rose Lynn area close to Hanna, on the family farm where he was most happy. Losing his father at an early age, Bob's grandparents also helped Agnes with raising the children, and Bob talked of them often. Moving to Red Deer in the early 1960's, Bob met the Knowler family, and became a regular at their home, attending rodeos, and riding horses, which was his love. He then met the Bud Haynes family, and went to work with them, at the Red Deer Auction, where he became part of the family. Bob moved to Fort McMurray in the 1970's, working the bucket wheel, became a Black Powder Shooter, and did leather work for hobbies, until retiring in the early 1980's. He returned to Red Deer to be close to his mother Agnes, and returned to helping at Bud Haynes Auctions, and working at the Carswell's Collectables Shows, doing whatever he was asked or wanted to do! Bob loved archery and children, and spent many hours volunteering at the Red Deer Archery Club, Camp He Ho Haw, The Mother of All Shoots, and many road trips with the Wuin family. Bob also be a true fixture at his favorite place, The Doughnut Mill on Gasoline Alley, and often would beat fellow patron Gordie, to their favorite booth! Bob was truly Linda's Shadow as he was called, and went everywhere with her on business calls, road trips, setting up sales, and countless cups of coffee, as Linda and Rae were small children when he came into their lives, he always had their back, then watching their children grow up, he never missed a camping trip (first one there and last to go), hockey games, lacrosse, archery of course they were all archers (or did their best) and truly was the best Uncle in the World! Bob is survived by his adopted family Dot Haynes, Linda, Jim, Thomas, Alayne Baggaley, Rae, Fred, Kyle, Katey Carswell, Dawn & Willie Pettie and family; niece Shawna Anderson; great niece Dawna; nephew Lorne Bunch; great nephew Christopher, numerous cousins; many great friends and his beloved dog Maggie. He was predeceased by his parents Agnes & John Hickle; sister Donna, and his grandparents. He will be truly Missed, "Happy Trails Uncle Bob".
