ROBERTS, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Fenton Orville Roberts, of Red Deer, in the arms of his loving wife, Mary Jean, as well as his family and friends at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the age of 81 years. Fenton was born on January 21, 1925 at Prince Edward Island. He served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy between 1940 and 1944. After that, Fenton began his career in the oil patch at Governor's Island, P.E.I. In 1948, he moved to Alberta, where he worked in the oil patch as a rough neck and worked his way up to Field Superintendent. In 1961, Fenton started Roberts Rathole Drilling. He ran the company until his retirement in 1970. At that time, he returned to P.E.I., where he lived and raced his horses for twenty-five years. Finally, he moved back to Red Deer in 1997, where he resided until his death. Fenton leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary Jean, son, David (Marilynn) Roberts, daughters, Sharon Roberts and Darlene (David) Gallant, grandchildren, Kimberley Fink, David (Cranna) Roberts, Corey Roberts, Richard Gallant, Caren (Brad) Mutch, Jeffrey (Amanda) Spike, Shane (Sarah) Roberts, Rhonda Roberts, Jesse (Chris) Kimble and thirteen great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Ira (Doris) and Harold, his sisters, Bernice Sampson, Kay Arsenault, Sadie (Howard) White, Lottie (George) Bambric, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Al and Ethel Jarvis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Fenton was predeceased by his parents, Cleveland and Florence Roberts, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Enos and Daisy Locke, an infant daughter, Sandra Jean in 1946, a son, Glenn Enos on June 13, 2005, two brothers, Louis and Alton and a sister, Inez Gallant. All are welcome to come and pay their respects one hour prior to the Funeral Service. A Public Funeral Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow at Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
