Roy BROWN

BROWN Roy Lorne Brown of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on November 5, 2005 at the age of 76 years. Roy was born on the farm in Red Jacket, Saskatchewan and resided there until May 1954 when he went to work for Flint Rig as a Ditcher Operator in Virden, Manitoba. Roy married Margaret Lewis in August 1954 and their son Brian was born in August 1955. The family then moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan, in May 1956 where son Lee and Daughter Leslie were born. Roy was then working as a truck driver moving heavy equipment for Flint. The family then moved to Red Deer in 1970 where they have resided ever since. Roy took long term disability in 1989 and retired from Flint Engineering Construction after thirty-five years of service. Roy and Margaret spent the next sixteen years travelling in their motor home until illness prevented them from travelling in 2001. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-one years, Margaret, two sons; Brian S. Brown of Red Deer and G. Lee Brown of Red Deer, one daughter, Leslie Dobie (Michael) of Delta, British Columbia, four Grandchildren; Ashley Varty of Delta, British Columbia, Tara Quartly of Red Deer, Adam Dobie of Delta, British Columbia and Alexa Dobie of Delta, British Columbia and one sister, Phyllis Fisher of Midland, Ontario. Roy was predeceased by his father, Stanley Brown (1945), his mother, Edith Hodgins (1994), one brother, Leslie Brown (1996), one sister-in-law, Eleanor Brown (2000) and one brother-in-law, Earl Fisher (1986). Those wishing to pay their respects to Mr. Roy Brown can do so at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150-67 Street) on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Red Deer Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Brenda Kersell officiating.
