RUTHERFORD 1914- 2007 Mrs. Donalda Alberta Rutherford (Weatherby) of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Donalda was born on December 15, 1914 at Champion, Alberta to Percy and Margaret Weatherby. Her family moved to the Elnora District, where she met Ralph Rutherford. The two were married on October 30, 1939. Donalda lived and farmed in the Elnora District until 1968 at which time she moved to Calgary for a short while, then to Red Deer, where she resided until her passing. Donalda was a devoted mother and grandmother and known to all her grandson's friends as “Granny”. She had a passion for sewing, crochet and tending to her wonderful flowers. Donalda will be remembered by all for the doilies and coasters that she made for all. She loved hockey and was a season ticket holder to the Red Deer Rebels. Donalda will be sadly missed but in our hearts forever. She is survived by her only daughter, Bonnie (Wayne) Howell of Red Deer, her very special grandsons, Kevin (Autumn) Howell of Calgary, Loren Howell and Shaun (Kellie) Howell both of Red Deer. She is also survived by a sister, Iona Aitken of Calgary, a special niece, Betty Hilbert of Calgary, nephews, Alex (Myrna) Weatherby, Ian (Shirley) Weatherby of Langely, British Columbia, Bruce Aitken of Calgary and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Donalda was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Rutherford, a sister, Natalie Wood, two brothers, Earl Weatherby and Daniel Weatherby. The Family would like to offer a special thanks to very good friends, Sylvia Ballash and Florence Buckland for the many visits and calls to mom. A Celebration of Donalda's Life will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street, Red Deer, on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Donalda's honour may be made directly to the charity of ones choice.
