SADOFSKY - HERMAN It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Herman Sadofsky (dad, father-in-law, opa, great-opa and great-great opa) who went to be with the Lord on September 5th, 2005, to join his wife (Katharina), on Monday, September 5th, 2005 at the age of 89 years. His family was by his side, in his final moments. Herman was born January 10th, 1916 in Romania (Herman Stath). He was by trade a shoemaker, and he served in the Romanian Army in WWII. In 1947, he met Katharina Ott, and they were married in 1948. They worked in Austria for numerous farmers with horses and cattle. In 1954, they immigrated with their daughter to Canada. Together they worked on the sugar beet farms near Turin, and in 1956 they moved to Vauxhall where they bought a house and a shoemaker business. From there they moved to Medicine Hat where they retired. Herman moved into the Riverview Care Centre in 2003, later his daughter transferred him to Ponoka to reside in the Northcott Centre and from there he was transferred to Red Nursing Home to be closer to his family. He was very happy to spend his last days with his daughter and family. Herman was predeceased by his loving wife, Katharina (1994); his step-son, Adam (1993); father-in-law, Adam (1953); mother (1943); sisters, Carolina and Freda: his great-granddaughter, Kelsey McIlharger (1991) and numerous other family members. He is survived by his loving daughter, Katherina (Richard) Bauer of Red Deer; five grandchildren, Richard (Rose) Bauer, Cynthia (Gary) McIlharger, Jackie (Bart) Fraser, Gerald (Suzanne) Bauer, and Lloyd (Tammy) Bauer; thirteen great-grandchildren, Richard, Nicholas, Amelia (Bruce) Bauer, Christopher, Christina, Christopher, Katrina, Keith, Riley, Nathan, Lanny MacDonald (Julie), Randy (Angie) MacDonald and Jenny MacDonald (Shane); six great-great-grandchildren, Colby, Brady, Christian, Jessie, Darien and Lacey; as well as great friends, Bert & Erica Bauer from Medicine Hat. The Graveside Service will be held at HILLSIDE CEMETERY, 10th Avenue & Gershaw Drive SW, on Saturday, September 10th, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy can be e-mailed to: saamisfc@telusplanet.net, subject-heading Herman Sadofsky.
