SAKER, Mr. John Harrison 'Jack' Saker, beloved husband of Mrs. Gladys Saker of Red Deer, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Jack was born on February 15, 1925. Jack was a wonderful family man and a very caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Throughout his construction years, Jack and Gladys lived all over Western Canada but the Chauvin District of Alberta was their family base. He worked in the Construction Industry all his life, taking part in the building of many major projects. A true outdoorsman, Jack loved fishing and being out in the quiet countryside. He was a very active member of his community and a longtime member of the Knox Presbyterian Church in Red Deer. Jack held membership in the Royal Canadian Legion, he was a Mason, a Shriner, a past member of the Rotary Club of Lacombe and participated in many other community activities. Throughout their life, he and Gladys loved to go dancing. Jack will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Jack leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Gladys of Red Deer, his son, Jack Saker, Jr. and his wife, Chris of Alix, his grandchildren, Jennifer Dianne Saker and Jack William Saker and four great grandchildren, Raquel, Michael, Brandon and Ryan. Jack was predeceased by his parents and his seven brothers and sisters. A Public Memorial Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 4718 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, February 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
