SALOMONS, Sam


Salomon "Sam" Salomons, aged 85 went home to be with his God and Father on April 10, 2017.

Sam is survived by his loving family: his daughters, Joline Huisman (John) and Edna Waterlander (Harmen); his son, Tony Salomons (Liz); his grandchildren, Adrianna Smith (Rob) & Shawn Huisman; Joel & Samantha Salomons, Edward, Sam & Jellie Waterlander; his great-grandchildren, Rachel, Heather and Skyler Smith; his sisters, Willie Rietema (Neil), Cathy Plantinga and his brothers, Herman (Leida) & Harry (Ruth) Salomons. He is predeceased by his wife, Janet and his son, Edward.

Sam was born on November 7, 1931 in Shackleton, SK to Geert & Grietje Salomons. He moved with his parents and brothers and sisters to Alberta in 1941. He married Janet Boogman from California in 1962 and together they raised their four children, some cows and crops on their farm across from the Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church in Lacombe, AB. His wife predeceased him in 2009.

Sam was involved with the church, serving on various building committees and other projects. After retiring from farming, Sam was known to be found in his wood working shop, where he built many furniture projects for family, friends and church.

An opportunity to say good-bye to Sam will be at Wilson's Funeral Chapel in Lacombe on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will take place at Redeemer United Reformed Church, 4519 - 46 Avenue, Lacombe on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Red Deer Prolife at Box 202 Red Deer, AB T4N 5E8.
