SCHMIDT

January 10, 2008

SCHMIDT The sudden and unexpected death of Travis Stephan Schmidt, 31 years of Blackfalds, AB, and formerly of Nokomis, SK occurred at his residence on Monday, December 31, 2007. Everyone who met Travis knew him as a warm and loving person. Travis cherished his family and friends and took every opportunity possible to spend time with them. He lived life to the fullest and more often than not, that meant spending time outdoors. Whether he was camping, hiking or fishing, Travis enjoyed his favorite activities even more when he could share them with his brothers and friends. He rarely made a plan for his adventures. He would just get in his old van (nicknamed the blue whale) and drive. Sometimes getting lost or stuck along the way, which was all just part of the adventure in his eyes. He was ready and willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it; family, friends, animals and even strangers. Travis would do anything to make you laugh and one of his great enjoyments in life was trying to find new ways to shock his mom, Barb. Who knows, that could be one of the reasons why he tattooed his body and pierced his nipples. But as one of his friends recently mentioned, Travis was a self proclaimed Mamma's boy, and proud of it! And in true Travis style, he nicknamed his mom "toots". He loved to spend time with his nieces Megan and Jordyn and nephew Devin. He lovingly referred to his niece Jordyn as "Frank". His grandparents Steve (predeceased) and Betty held a special place in Travis' heart. Grandpa Steve would always call him the judge because of Travis' characteristic stance with his hands behind his back. Maybe Travis got his love of nicknaming from Grandpa Steve. Lorne and Jeff were not only Travis' brothers but his best friends, and Travis seen his best friends Keith and Jeremy as family as well. Though these guys were Travis' main "accomplices" when seeking adventure, he had many other friends that he loved to spend time with. During one such moment Jeremy taped Travis flying through the air on his motorbike, which wasn't too funny to his mom. Travis will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his mom, Barb Schmidt (Dave Lewis) of Saskatoon, SK; dad, Ernest Krieger (Linda) of Jansen, SK; two brothers and their families, Lorne Krieger of Viscount, SK and daughter, Megan, and Jeff (Cheryl) Schmidt of Langham, SK and children, Devin and Jordyn; maternal grandmother, Betty Manyk of Jansen, SK numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and by his "boy's" Brewster, Rio and Sadie. Travis was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Steve Manyk and paternal grandparents, Roy and Edith Krieger. The Funeral Service for Travis was held on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Hwy. 5 East, Humboldt, SK officiated by Jenny Irwin. A eulogy was given by Keith Harrison and Travis' nephew, Devin Schmidt. Jeff Schmidt was the urn bearer. Memorial donations in Travis' memory may be made to the Red Deer SPCA or to a trust fund for the care of Travis' dogs. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME, Humboldt, SK, 306-682-1622.
