SHALOM Born: March 3,1917 Almelo, The Netherlands Died: October 28, 2006 Edmonton, AB KNOPPERS, SR. Rev. Nicolaas Bastiaan (emeritus) Nick was called home to his Eternal Rest on the morning of October 28, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Barthie; his children, Jake and Jocelyne (Montreal, QC), Annelies (the Netherlands), Bastian and Joan (Chicago, IL), Bartha and Daniel (Montreal, QC), Nick and Joanne (Edmonton, AB), and Gary and Laura(State College, PA), and was blessed with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived with a sister–in-law and a brother-in-law, fourteen nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He served in the Dutch Resistance movement, as a Dutch Air force Chaplain, Civil Air Defence Chaplain in the United States, and in various Classis and Synod gatherings of the Christian Reformed Church. He ably served as minister and pastor to three congregations in the Netherlands, four congregations in Canada, and one mission field in the United States. Nicholas was also instrumental in assisting in laying the foundations for The King's University College. Nick will be buried in the Little Mountain Cemetery, in a private ceremony, on Friday, November 3, 2006. A Worship Service will be held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 14204-25 Street, Edmonton, Alberta at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knoppers-Boon Scholarship Fund at The King's University College, 9125-50 Street, Edmonton, AB, Canada, T6B 2H3.
