July 8, 2006

SINCLAIR 1920 - 2006 Dorothy May Sinclair (Bloye) passed away peacefully on July 5, 2006 at the age of 86 in the Lacombe Extended Care Facility where she had resided for the past 3 years. Born April 5, 1920 at Bracken, Saskatchewan, Dorothy was one of 7 children born to William and Maude Bloye. Dorothy came of age during difficult times and learned very early the meaning of sacrifice and hard work. While visiting her sister Edith in Salmon Arm, B.C., about 1940, she took up a housekeeping job for Dan Sinclair where she met her future husband, Donald Robert Sinclair. They were married on Dorothy’s birthday in 1943 at Vernon, B.C. and resided in Salmon Arm until moving to Clive, Alberta to farm in 1959. Born to Don and Dorothy were 3 children, Gayleen, Linda and George. The couple lived on their farm at Clive until retiring from farming and settling in Ponoka, Alberta. Dorothy worked for 10 years at the Rimoka Seniors Lodge in Ponoka until her full retirement in 1985. She continued to live at Ponoka until 1997, when she and her husband Don sold their home and moved to Lacombe to live with their daughter, Gayleen. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents William and Maude, her son George in 1969 at the age of 19, four sisters, and her husband Donald in March of 2000. Left to mourn her passing are daughters Gayleen and Linda, grandchildren Don Sinclair and sons Jonah, Thomas and Ryan; Heather (Neil) Jackson and children, Sheri, Kyle and Wade; Rick Sinclair and daughter Shelby; Ed Hess (Diane) and sons Mitchell and Dawson and grandson Damien Hess. Also left to mourn are brothers Bill and Jack Bloye and families, sisters-in-law Jean Watson and family and Margaret Cameron and family, various nieces and nephews of her deceased sisters. The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff and volunteers at the Lacombe Extended Care Facility for their care, compassion, and tireless efforts to make Dorothy as comfortable as possible during her stay with them. Thank you also to the many friends who faithfully made time to be with our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She will be forever missed. A memorial service will be held at the Lacombe Community Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. to be followed by a fellowship luncheon in the church basement. Dorothy will be cremated, as was her wish, and interred at Alto Reste Cemetery, east of Red Deer, with her husband Donald and son George. A private family interment will take place on Monday, July 10, 2006.
