SMEATON Dr. Douglas PhD Resident of Kanata, Ontario Suddenly on February 18, 2007 in a diving accident, aged 57. Born in Taber and raised in Red Deer Alberta, Doug was a dedicated family man and a loving husband. He was a well respected leader in the high-tech community and was the President and CEO of Semi Conductor Insights Inc. Doug was a highly skilled and passionate diver. He was a truly decent and honest man who loved nature and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Marg (nee Oldring) of Kanata; his sons, Paul (Allison), Matthew (Dawn) and Kurt; sisters, Sharon Smeaton and Maureen Moore (Jerry) of Red Deer; brothers-in-law, Robin Oldring (Bonnie), Brian Oldring (Jane), John Oldring (Bonnie) and David Oldring (Jane). Your kindness, humour, wisdom, integrity and above all, the love you gave your family will always be with us. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St. on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Kanata United Church, 33 Leacock Drive, Kanata, Ontario. Following the service a reception will be held at the Brookstreet Hotel, Kanata. Memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Mission (Hospice).
