SNELGROVE

SNELGROVE Mrs. Fredrice (Freda) Emma Snelgrove, (nee Waldron) of Lacombe, formerly of Red Deer and Fairview Alberta, passed away at the Lacombe Hospital on Saturday May 3, 2008 at the age of 92 years. Freda was born on a farm near Loverna Saskatchewan on October 14, 1915 to parents Albert and Mary Jane (Aucutt) Waldron with a family of 11 siblings. She married Louis Thomas Rexford (Tom) Snelgrove in August of 1940 in Edmonton where their oldest child Thomas Wayne was born. Freda and Tom moved their family to Fort St. John, British Columbia at the end of the war, where their next two boys, Larry and Glen were born. The next move took them to Fairview, Alberta where their youngest boy Bryan was born in 1948. They raised their four boys on a small acreage at the north end of town and remained in Fairview until 1975 when they moved to Red Deer where they retired in 1980. Freda was an active member of the Eastern Star, Venus chapter in Red Deer. She is pre-deceased by her husband Tom in August of 1991 and by her brothers George Albert Waldron, William Henry Waldron and Richard Arthur Waldron, and her sisters Ida Mary Isbister, Helen Elsie May (Nell) Porter, Irene Lillian Marriot, Dorothy Mitchinson and Marguerite Annie Waldron. She is survived by her brothers John Waldron of Red Deer, Donald Waldron of Calgary and Matthew Waldron of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Freda is also survived by her sons Wayne (Christina) Snelgrove of Westlock, Larry Snelgrove of Courtenay B.C., Glen (Maureen) Snelgrove of Lethbridge and Bryan (Jane) Snelgrove of Courtenay, B.C., 12 grandchildren and 10 great grand children. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3002-47 Avenue in Red Deer at 2 pm. Thursday, May 8th with Bishop David McCue officiating.
