SOMMER

April 8, 2006

SOMMER, Mrs. Adele Sommer (nee Rausch) of Red Deer, formerly of Vernon, British Columbia, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Adele was born on January 26, 1921 in Grodjetz, Poland. Coming to Canada in the dirty thirties, she missed the serenity of the ponds and lily pads from her farm home in Poland until she moved to the beautiful Okanagan Valley. There, she met, fell in love with, and married Ernie and raised three daughters. She loved her family and she loved God. Adele sang in the choir, she sang to her children and sang to herself. Hers was a singing soul and always will be; we can still hear our beloved Adele! We can still smell her cinnamon buns, and we will all miss her many stories and long chats. Adele leaves to mourn her loss, her loving daughters, Karen Sommer of Kelowna, British Columbia, Helen (Don Longshore) of Red Deer and Brenda (Michael O'Keefe) of Cochrane, Alberta and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan, Caryn, Jennifer, Heather, Michael and Kiri. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Berta and Dorothy Rausch of Calgary, Alberta and her brother, Ken Rausch (Isabel) of Surrey, British Columbia. Besides her family, Adele leaves many treasured friends both in Vernon and Red Deer, whom she loved dearly. Adele was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernie in 1999. A Memorial Service will be held at the Balmoral Bible Chapel, Northside of Highway 11 East, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Living Word Lutheran Church, 6525 Okanagan Landing Road, Vernon, British Columbia on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Vernon, British Columbia.
