STEIL, 1932 - 2007 Mrs. Elsey Steil, beloved wife of Mr. Don Steil of Red Deer, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Elsey was born on March 7, 1932 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was raised and received her education at Glaslyn and North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She married her husband Don on September 4, 1954 and they lived in Calgary and Swift Current before settling in Red Deer. In addition to running an efficient household, Elsey worked at several banks and as a cashier, concluding her working life at the Bay. Music was a passion; she enjoyed singing in the choirs and choruses over the years. Other pastimes included gardening, quilting, reading, playing scrabble and visiting numerous friends. Elsey and Don spent many enjoyable weekends with friends at their acreage in the West Country. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her quick smile and adventurous spirit. Elsey leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband of fifty-two years, Don Steil, her children, Douglas Steil and James Steil, both of Calgary, Alberta, Anne (Murray) Stephens of Hamilton, Ontario and Norman Steil of New Westminster, British Columbia and her grandchildren, Meagan and Jessy Stephens. Elsey was predeceased by her parents, Abel and Signe Isberg. A Public Funeral Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
