HANSEN,

Stephanie Elizabeth (Dobia)

Feb. 26, 1931- Mar. 27, 2017

It is with much love and sadness that we announce the passing of Stephanie Hansen, of the Eckville district, in the arms of her loving husband Donald, on March 27, 2017.

She was born and raised in the Evergreen District to a home-steading family and received her schooling at Hazel Dell.

In early adulthood she followed her nursing career through many parts of Alberta, from Lethbridge to Grande Prairie. She loved reminiscing about her nursing days, which included breaking a few rules in the nurse's dorms.

She married her husband Donald in 1958 and for 58 years dedicated her life to her husband and sons on the family farm.

Stephanie was a free spirit with an adventurous soul that was always game for a water fight, intense game of cards, epic Easter egg hunts, music, get togethers, campouts, salmon fishing in BC or fishing with grandchildren at the pond on the family farm. Not long ago she wouldn't bat an eye at an impromptu water fight in the yard.

She was always a gracious host who excelled at cooking. Baba's homemade soups were unrivalled. If you arrived on time there was always fresh bread and cinnamon buns fresh from her oven. Her garden and yard was everyone's envy and she supplied produce to many meal tables.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Gordon, her parents, Frank and Anna Dobia, brothers Frank and Ted Dobia, sisters Val Engman and Anne Burns, sister in law Ardelle Dobia, brother in laws George Engman, Joe Shippelt, Bob Kraft and Glen Engen, nieces Joanne Knopp, Erica Engman and Elaine Smith and many dear friends and relatives.

She is survived by her loving husband Donald, sons, Dale (Carla), Gerry (Maureen), grandchildren, Garrett (Morgan) Hansen, Justine (Jordan) Thompson, Delaney (Chance Thoreson), Zachary Hansen, Jack Hansen and Lauren Hansen. Great grandchildren, Hayden and Grainger, sister Helen Shippelt, brother in law Stanley Burns and sister in laws Mary Dobia, Myrtle Engen and Betty Kraft and many beloved nieces and nephews.

At her request no public service will be held.
