SYMBOL HUBBARD Daniel Guy Hubbard of Red Deer, AB. passed away on Monday, December 6, 2004 at the age of 57. He was born in Vegreville, AB. and worked until his retirement for the Environmental Department of the Government of Alberta. He greatly enjoyed working for Red Deer Peavey Mart for 2 years. Dan was an active member of the Optimist Club participating in both present and out-going president positions. Dan was instrumental in establishing an Optimist Local in Blackfalds, AB., and he had much passion and enthusiasm for the role the Optimist Club played within the community. Dan was an avid hobbyist-carpenter and when not working with tools, he could be found outside, with Shirley, tinkering around in the garden or keeping busy with his grandchildren. Dan had a passion for family and was very concerned with making sure that everyone's best interests were looked after before his own. He was a loyal and dedicated friend, husband, and father. He will be deeply missed. Daniel, the youngest son of the late Floyd and Grace Hubbard of Vegreville, was predeceased by his brother Lawrence and sister Janice. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (nee Varga), his former wife, Delphine Derbyshire (nee Hiebert), his 2 daughters: Danielle (Eric Verville) of Red Deer, Rhonda (Michael Jobson) of Vancouver, and his step-son Don (Pat) MacLeod of Red Deer. Dan is also survived by his three grandchildren, Zacheray Verville, Don Halliday and Kelly MacLeod, all of Red Deer. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2004 at 1:00 pm. at the Eventide Funeral Home in Red Deer, AB. The family requests that any memorials in Dans' name, be made to either the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
