VELMA OLDRING

March 4, 2005

OLDRING, VELMA FLORENCE (nee DEVORE) Surrounded by her loving family, Velma passed away on February 3, 2005, at the age of 89. She joins her husband Robbie in heaven, and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Derald (Mary); and her daughter, Joanne (Dan); as well as her grandchildren, Christopher (Nancy), Kathleen, Lisa and Robert; and greatgrandchildren, Kassandra, Deanna, Hannah Mary, Hannah Marlene and Cole. Velma was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, on April 29, 1915. A prairie girl, she lived her life between Saskatchewan and Alberta, spending over 50 of her 62 years of marriage in Lacombe, Alberta with her husband, Robbie. She was an avid traveller, reader and gardener, and those fortunate enough to have known her will not soon forget her "jungle" of wildflowers in the garden at Lacombe. She was devoted to her family and to her many friendships, and her loss will be felt by all who knew her around the world as well as here at home. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church (5226-51 Ave. Lacombe, AB) on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Youth Emergency Shelter Society of Edmonton, 9310-82 Ave. Edmonton, AB T6C 0Z6 Connelly-McKinley Ltd., 10011-114th St; (780)422-2222, to send condolences: www.connelly-mckinley.com
