JEFFERIES (nee Brown) Vera Gwendolyn 1938 - 2006 It is with great sadness we announce the loss of Vera Jefferies on September 29, 2006 at the age of 67 years. Vera was born in Elnora, Alberta in 1938 and raised in Delburne, Alberta. She took her schooling in Delburne, Alex and NAIT in Edmonton, where she graduated with an honours diploma in Dietary Technology. Vera was employed as a dietary technician in various capacities, clinical and management, in Health Care from 1973 to 1997. From 1997 to 2001, she was manager at Chinook Winds Lodge in Carstairs, Alberta. From 2002 - 2006 she worked as Housing Coordinator for the Kerby Centre in Calgary. Vera enjoyed her community and never hesitated to volunteer her time. She is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband Doug Jefferies; daughter Debbie Anders; son Tom (Suzanne) Anders; granddaughter Olivia and two step - daughters, Shelley and Jasmine Jefferies. She is also survived by five siblings; Marion Walker of Boon, Michigan, Marl (Mavis) Brown of Ft. Nelson, B.C., D. Jack (Marie) Brown and Joe Brown of Delburne, Alberta, and Elaine (Bill) Smith of Edmonton; brothers-in-law Harold (Elaine) Jefferies of Calgary, George (Alice) Jefferies of Dartmouth, N.S., and Carl (Clara) Jefferies of Dartmouth, N.S.; sisters-in-law, Josephine, Gwendolyn and Gertrude, as well an many nieces and nephews, great - nieces and great - nephews and many good friends. Vera was predeceased by her parents, Don and Agnes Brown. A Memorial Service to celebrate Vera's life will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4th Street N.W. (within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29th Street N.W., Calgary T2N 4N2.
