Vernon ZIEGLER

June 8, 2005

ZIEGLER Vernon Albert Ziegler of Clive passed away suddenly on June 5, 2005 at the age of 42. Born on October 1, 1962 at Rimbey, AB, Vern was only 5 ½ when his father passed away. Grandpa George (or Dorge) as Vern would call him, took Vern under his wing and did many things with him - like fishing, farming, working in the shop, getting his foot caught in the grain auger, and many other adventures. Vern went to school in Bluffton and Lacombe until he learned it all and joined the work force. After working at Gilmore Lockers, Canada Packers, on the rigs, and various other jobs for a few years, Vern was employed by Hopkins Construction for close to 20 years until his passing. In the spring of 2001, Vern bought his farm at Clive and built his home there the following year. Vern loved his farm, his family, his very extended family, his friends, his life, and he had the smartest dog ever (so he said) until the dog ran away. Then he got a smarter one. Vern will be deeply missed and sadly remembered by his special friend Carla Ward of Clive; Mother and Stepfather Delores and Foxy Bye of Mirror; 2 brothers, John Ziegler (Tracey) of Fort St. John, B.C., Wayne Bye of Great Falls, Montana; 2 sisters, Lynn (Doc) Peck of Fort St. John; Susan (Jeff) Giesbrecht of Clive; special nieces, Amy and Ashley Giesbrecht of Clive as well as numerous relatives and friends. Vern was predeceased by his father Earl Ziegler, Grandparents George and Amy Langevin, Grandparents William and Lorena Ziegler, 3 uncles, and 1 aunt. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Make a Wish Foundation of Northern Alberta, 15016-77 Ave., Edmonton, AB T5R 3B3, or to Bashaw Victims Services.
