WACHTER, 1926- 2007 Mr. Markus Alexander "Alec" Wachter passed away suddenly after a brief illness, with his wife Violet by his side, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Markus (Alec) was born on September 2, 1926 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and was the youngest of eight children. He came to Red Deer in 1948 but left soon after for work in Brooks, where his children were born. Alec returned to Red Deer in the early 1960's where he resided until his passing. He married Violet Hillman (nee Colson) on February 16, 1974. Markus (Alec) and Violet moved to their new home in the Pines Lodge in September 2006, where he soon made many friends. Markus (Alec) is survived by his loving wife, Violet, six daughters, Diane (Lawrence) Goertzen, Sandra (Nelson) Radmore both of Ponoka, Marie Valgardson of Victoria, British Columbia, Twylla Petersen of St. Albert, Mary (Marlin) Rudolph of Stony Plain, Alexis Jahrus of Chilliwack, British Columbia, fourteen grandchildren and two great grand children. He is also going to be sadly missed by his wife Violet and her children, Norman (Betty) Hillman of Sherwood Park, Eunice Hewat of Canberra, Australia, Marge Wojciechowski, Evelyn (John) Bolin, Gordon (Joanne) Hillman, Ken Hillman, all of Red Deer, twenty grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren and twelve great great grand children. Markus (Alec) was predeceased by his father when he was five, his mother when he was eleven, three sisters, Joanna, Elsie, and Wally, four brothers, George, Nicholas, Anton, and Louie as well as two sons, Lyle and Markus. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Pines Lodge who made Markus feel so welcome during his year living there and to Dr. Hendrichs and all the nursing staff on Unit 33 at the Red Deer Hospital who gave Markus such wonderful care during the short time he was with them.
