Walter Arthur - 1946 - 2004
Walter Arthur Mayer, beloved husband of Shirley of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Friday, June 25, 2004 at the age of 57 years. Walter was born on November 10, 1946 in Elnora, AB and was raised near Delburne, AB. He graduated from the U of A with a B.Commerce and then articled in Calgary to become a Chartered Accountant. At the time of his passing he was an Associate at Owen Mayer Kirzinger in Calgary. He will be
remembered for his love of family and many sports and will be sadly missed. Besides his loving wife, Walter is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Matthew) Olfert and Veronica (Christopher) Falk; a son Shane Mayer, all of Calgary; and two stepsons, James Hokanson of Calgary and Murray Hokanson of Fort McMurray, AB. He was a loving and dedicated grandfather to his four grandchildren, Jesse, Ethan and Sydney Hokanson and Jaina Olfert. Walter is also survived by two brothers, Gordon (Sharon) Mayer of Stettler, AB and Gary (Lois) Mayer of Australia; two sisters, Audrey (Leonard) Yarbrough of Millet, AB and Marj Austin of Edmonton, AB; and his nieces, nephews and numerous in-laws. Walter was predeceased by his father Manley Mayer, mother Jean Mayer, brother-in-law Colin Austin, and infant son Robin. A Celebration of Walter's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Crowfoot
