WALZ, 1944 – 2006 Mr. Ken Walz, beloved husband of Terry Walz of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the age of 62 years. Ken was born on August 24, 1944 at Macklin, Saskatchewan. He was employed in the Automotive Business but earlier owned and operated hotels in Luseland and Marengo, Saskatchewan between 1975 and 1982. Ken was an avid sportsman and enjoyed cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Calgary Flames and the Red Deer Rebels. Ken was a kind and gentle man who loved storytelling and sharing his wonderful sense of humour. He was the type of person that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Ken will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and many dear friends. Ken leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of thirty-eight years, Terry, his two sons, Kevin (Melany) Walz of Calgary, Alberta and Calvin (Jodie) Walz of Fort McMurray, Alberta and his pride and joy, granddaughter, Ryder. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, sisters and numerous other family members and dear friends. Ken was predeceased by his father Martin, mother Frances, brother Pius, infant brother Roy, brother-in-law Willie Flad, niece Charlene Gronning and father-in-law Nick Bakowy. Prayers will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. A Public Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508-48A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. with The Reverend Father Donald Stein Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
