William ANDREW

ANDREW William (Bill) Charles Andrew of Eckville passed away at the Red Deer Hospital on May 20, 2005 at the age of 72 with a lengthy illness of Myelodysplastic syndrome. He was born March 12, 1933 at the family farm and attended Andrew and Eckville School’s and later attended Olds College. Bill started working in 1954 with Seaboard of Delaware. He married June Gerber of Eckville on June 15, 1963. To this union 3 children were born, Colleen, Collin and Curtis. He continued to work for Texaco until it was purchased by Esso Imperial Oil, which he retired in 1991 with 37 years of service. While still living on the farm, he raised Herefords, enjoyed golfing, fishing, curling, traveling, playing ball and umpping. His favorite hockey teams were the Calgary Flames and Red Deer Rebels. June passed away January 31, 1997. After retirement he continued living on the farm raising the cattle. He spent every fall with Kalev Farms as a combine pilot. On May 3, 2003 he married Shirley Fisher of Eckville and moved to town. Together they enjoyed dancing, ice fishing, curling, camping with friends and card parties. He was a social butterfly wherever he went. He fought a courageous battle against his disease never giving up hope. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, children Colleen and daughter Jordayne of Red Deer, Collin and daughter Alyssa of Eckville, Curtis of Doha, Qatar, Granny Gerber, Shirley’s family Debbie (Eldon) Zaretski and daughters Tamara & Tannis of Calgary, Nancy (Dwayne) Grzech and sons Brendon and Kyle of Edson, Grant (Cheryl) Fisher and children Ethan, Melena and Rosalyn of Red Deer, 1 brother Albert (Marlene) Andrew of Swift Current, 2 sister’s Evelyn (Frank) Brown of Red Deer, Irene Leach of Red Deer, 2 uncle’s, 3 aunts, nieces and nephews and numerous relatives. He was predeceased by his father Charlie in 1973, wife June in 1997 and his mother Hazel in 2000. Funeral services will be held from the Eckville Community Hall on Friday May 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium.
