William RUTHERFORD

RUTHERFORD William John (Bill) Rutherford passed away Thursday, December 23, 2004, in the Three Hills Health Care Centre at the age of 67 years. Bill was born May 15, 1937 at Elnora and has lived his entire life in the area. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years Betty-Joan, his loving daughters Janet & Steve Pisko of Delburne, Susann Rutherford of Red Deer and Leslie & Kevin Raniseth of Delburne; 4 grandchildren – his pride and joy – Craig & Travis Pisko, Baillie Rutherford and Kaylee Raniseth. He is also survived by one brother, Alvin & Edna Rutherford of Didsbury; one sister, Eva & Chuck Collins of Forestburg; one brother-in-law, Jack & Judy McLaren of Bowden and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents Lowell & Pearl Rutherford; one brother, Jay; one sister, Vivian Collins; 2 nieces Donna Rutherford and Janelle Redekop. Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him. After leaving school Bill farmed with his Dad and continued farming until poor health forced him to rent the farmland out. On August 20, 1960, he married Betty-Joan McLaren from Bowden and they lived on the family farm where they raised their three girls. Bill delivered mail, he drove School Bus and the Senior’s Bus for a number of years. He was also a member of the Elnora Recreation Board, Trenville Elks Lodge, Elnora Hospital Board, Elnora Ag Society, Elnora 4-H Beef Club and Elnora Curling CLub. Bill had a great love of Sports. He taught his girls how to play ball and to curl and he was so proud of them as he watched them participate. Funeral services will be held at the Elnora Community Hall on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with interment following at the Elnora Cemetery. If friends desire memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, STARS or the charity of your choice.
