Winnie PRINS

December 19, 2007

PRINS Winnie Prins was born as Wyntje Zee on September 23, 1920, in Andyk, Holland, the third of 9 children of Frank and Ebeltje Zee. She came to Canada in 1947 on a ship with many other war brides. Within a month of arriving in Lacombe Winnie was married, at Woodynook Church, to Ralph (Roelof) Prins. Ralph and Winnie farmed for almost 40 years in the Sunnycrest district, NW of Lacombe. Winnie was kept busy raising 7 children. She was an active and faithful member of the Woodynook Christian Reformed Church. Winnie had an eye for detail and always encouraged the children to "do their best". In 1979 Ralph and Winnie moved on to an acreage on the Lincoln Road, and in 1996 they made the big move into Lacombe. This adjustment was made much easier because of the wonderful neighbors on their street. This past April Winnie and Ralph celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, along with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For the past three years Winnie lived in the Lacombe Nursing Home where she received excellent and loving care. On Sunday, December 16, 2007, at the age of 87, Winnie went home to be with her Lord & Saviour. Winnie is survived by her beloved husband Ralph, seven children: Dennis (Ruby) Prins, Ray (Pauline) Prins, Harvey (Agnes) Prins, Alfred (Alice) Prins, Eleanor (Ed) Drost, Judy (Erwin) Van Haren, and Laura Prins, 24 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, six sisters: Aaf (John) Kooiman, Ann (Simon) Swier, Tina (Adolf) Opdendries, Jenny (Klaas) Brink, Dorothy (Gerrit) Meindersma, and Helen Kits, one sister-in-law: Grace Zee, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Winnie was predeceased by her parents, a sister, a brother, an infant daughter, and a grandson. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 1:30 pm, at Woodynook Christian Reformed Church, west of Lacombe. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lacombe Christian School, 5206-58 Street, Lacombe, AB T4L 1G8. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to wfch@telusplanet.net.
