My first Mother’s Day

Remember how I said that I had my ultrasound tech write down our baby’s gender so Layne and I could find out together?
I was very proud of myself for not peeking, although I was VERY tempted.
I was anxious to see him Saturday morning and of course he was taking his sweet time to come over. When he finally got here I pointed out the envelope.
You’ll never guess what happened! He put it in his pocket and said I can’t have it until Sunday. WHAT?! NOT FAIR! I totally should have peeked. But apparently he had some sort of master plan…
The bun is half baked

In lieu of Friday Favorites this week I’m giving you my weekly preggo update a day late. Thursday’s always mark another week. This week was the halfway point. It’s crazy that I’m here already. It still feels like yesterday when I found out.
This week brought another ultrasound. I was sad that Layne couldn’t get away from work to be there. We could find out the sex this week but instead of me finding out without him, I had the tech write it down and put it in an envelope. Let me tell you how much of a struggle it was not to peek!
It was cool to see the little bun again. It’s so much bigger than the last time we saw and moving around so much. I’m feeling it constantly and I got to see it kicking away on screen. That kid’s got moves!
That looks comfy?
A lost month?

Last Monday was my first ultrasound. I was excited to see the little thing that had been stealing my energy and changing my body into something I worked so hard to prevent. With that, I was also happy to say goodbye to the 1st trimester and the fatigue and sickness that went with it.
Apparently I could have said my farewells about three weeks sooner. The ultrasound tech said I looked closer to 16 weeks than 13. Uh, what? How is THAT possible?
So my due date is no longer the end of October. I was so excited to have a baby at that time of year being that it’s so close to Halloween. I was even planning on finding a new born Halloween outfit to bring babe home in. I guess there’s now a chance that I will be sharing birthdays with the little creature which everyone else thinks is awesome, but I was never very good at sharing. We’ll see though. I feel like measurements could be wrong, especially because Layne’s family are a bunch of giants and maybe the nugget is just growing like a weed. Next ultrasound will hopefully give us more insight. AND we will find out if the nugget is a girl or boy! Yes, we’re cheating.
Sad news, today I had to take out my belly button ring. Last week it still had lots of room, this week it was starting to get sore. I’ve had it in for probably close to 8 years so I’m sad to say goodbye!
The day my world turned upside down

It was February 17 when my whole world got rocked upside down. My monthly friend was late and I was freaking out a bit.
My hormones have been whack lately anyways so I honestly didn’t think it was anything too crazy, but I bought a home pregnancy test just to ease my mind until my little friend decided to make an appearance.
Unfortunately my mind was not put to ease. The test was positive. My lunch didn’t come out of the microwave until sometime that evening.
I had only been with my boyfriend for about a month or so, and things were still kind of under the radar with us.
First run fail

Saturday I decided to skip the gym and take advantage of the gorgeous spring day to go for a run. I’m not a strong runner and I don’t run during the winter months. I’m a fair weather runner, it has to be light out and decent weather if I’m going to venture outside.
Conditions were perfect Saturday so I laced up an old pair of running shoes and set out.
I am fortunate to have a trail just steps from my condo that runs alongside a creek. It’s mostly treed so I wasn’t sure if it would be completely melted or not, hence the old shoes. This was a mistake. The path was completely clear which surprised me given the amount of snow we received the last few weeks.
I managed to run the full length of the path on one side of the road without, which is about 2km. This also surprised me given I haven’t ran since early fall. I decided to cross the road and walk the trail that’s on the other side until I got back home, which is nearly a 5km loop.
