Kallis wins by 20 shots

DEER VALLEY, Sask. — Red Deer golfer Carson Kallis took top honours in the boys’ division of the CN Future Links Prairie Championship with a three-day score of 11-under 205.

The 16-year-old was a picture of consistency, carding one eagle, 16 birdies and 31 pars over 54 holes at the Deer Valley Golf and Estates south of Regina.

Kallis turned in rounds of 75 and 66 during the first two days, and fired an even more impressive 64 on Thursday, beating the course record that he has established on Wednesday.

“Everything came together,” said Kallis. “I tried to drive well, keep out of trouble and aim for the middle of the greens. I played great and to get the course record twice was really just a bonus.”

Cole Chelle of Edmonton (78-77-70) and Scott Malo of Calgary (74-75-76) tied for second place at 225, a whopping 20 strokes behind Kallis.

Zach Griffiths of Red Deer tied for seventh with a 229 total that included rounds of 82-76-71, while Jesse Teron, also of Red Deer, placed 48th (101-82-85—268).
