Girls Soccer

Kayla Blacquiere scored twice to lead the Red Deer tier 1 Renegades to a weekend win over the Edmonton Strikers in under-16 girls’ soccer action.

Heather Young and Hayley Carlson each scored a goal for the winners, who had Jessie Stewart in net.

The Renegades are presented ranked in the top three of the highly competitive Edmonton league.

• Sydney Daines netted the lone goal for the Red Deer tier 2 under-14 girls in a 1-0 win over the Edmonton Drillers.

Marlins snag gold at Lacombe

Red Deer Marlins Swim Club competitors snagged 13 aggregate gold medals in a weekend meet at Lacombe.

Winning aggregate gold were Jordan Isaac (boys’ six and under), Brendan Laing (boys’ eight and under) and Adrian Christ (boys’ 13-14).

Silver aggregate medals went to Isabelle Adams (girls’ eight and under), Sefrah Daviduck (girls’ 13-14), Catherine Alcorn (girls’ 15-16) and Chase Desrosiers (boys’ 15-16).

The Marlins had six bronze winners — Kaden Schiller (boys’ six and under), Claire Halford (girls’ eight and under), Taylor Laing (girls’ nine and 10), Geordan Andrew (boys’ nine and 10) and Quinn Daviduck and Kahn Daviduck, who tied in the boys’ 15-16 category.

Vipers go 1-1 at tournament

The Red Deer TBS Vipers were 1-1 at a weekend tyke lacrosse tournament in Lacombe.

The Vipers opened with a 7-6 loss to Lacoka, then defeated Innisfail 12-5.
