Moon back to lead Midget AAA Braves for 2014 season

Cam Moon returns as head coach of the Carstar ProCollision Braves midget AAA baseball team for the 2014 season.

Moon and his 16-man roster opens play Sunday with a doubleheader in Strathmore. Their home opener is April 30 against the Calgary Red Birds Black at 6:30 p.m. at Great Chief Park.

Dwayne Lalor returns as head coach of the Servus Credit Union bantam AAA Braves while Chuck Blackburn is the head coach of the peewee AA DQ Braves.

Darcey Steeves will coach the Dick’s Auto mosquito AA team 1 while Collin Berglund will handle coaching duties with the Gord’s First Line mosquito AA team 2.

Kathy Lalor will be on the bench for the peewee AA North Star Braves with Cam Junck handling the Boston Pizza bantam AA squad and Kurt Simon the midget AA team.

A new feature on the local baseball calendar this year is the Red Deer Minor Baseball Association AAA tournament July 4-6 at Great Chief Park. The tournament will include teams in the mosquito AA and peewee, bantam and midget AAA divisions.

• The Red Deer Rage Fastball Association sees Murray Phillips the head coach of the U18 midget program with Darcy Marshall handling the U16 bantam A team, Carter Gibson the B squad and Terry Nieth the C team.

Clayton Cassidy is coaching the U14 peewee A team with Rob Glover coaching the B team and Todd Darcy and Richard Smalley the C teams. Jeff Kelley will coach the U12 squirt team with Larry Lowe directing the B team and Patrick Feser and Lee Booth the C teams. Dan Kusk will coach the U10 mite team and Jeff Zinken the B team.
