The Blackfalds Wranglers won their only game of the weekend on Friday

The Blackfalds Wranglers won their only game of the weekend on Friday in Heritage Junior B Hockey League action. It was the final game of the regular season before the playoffs for Blackfalds.

The win, 3-2 over the Stettler Lightning was also a preview for the first round playoff matchup when the two teams will square off on Wednesday.

The teams traded goals in the first period with Bronson Spearing scoring for Blackfalds and Braydon Whiteford scoring for Stettler.

In the third the Wranglers took a 2-1 lead on a Braden Olsen goal before Kieran Rost tied the game short handed for Stettler. Spencer Otto scored the game winner on the power play at 11:58. Rylan Bardick made 32 saves in the win and Jordan McCallum stopped 39 for the loss.

Stettler suffered a 10-4 loss on Saturday night against the Mountainview Colts as they wrapped up the regular season. Ethan Rost had two goals and an assist, along with Logan Davidson and Matt Sylvester each scoring once.

Cale Brown, Ryan Klinck and Mitchell Visser all had two goals for the Colts. Cole Sutherland, Tyson Schmidt, Josh Gette and Evan Ingram all added a goal. Brown, Sutherland and Ingram all finished with four points and Jake Carlson made 25 saves in the win.
