OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. — Danielle Kang made a birdie on her final hole of the day and wrested the lead from Amy Yang midway through the second round at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Kang started the day at 2 under, birdied the first hole and kept piling up red numbers in the LPGA’s second major of the season. She finished with a 66 that left her at 7 under for the tournament and a stroke clear of Yang, the first-round leader, and two better than Moriya Jutanugarn.

Yang was on the 18th fairway a day earlier when play was suspended. She returned just before 8 a.m. to complete her first round, made birdie to reach 6 under, but couldn’t get any lower through her first 15 holes. Jutanugarn shot 68.
