Out of more than 400 players 18 and under from across Alberta, four Central Albertans are among the best.

At a tryout last week in Calgary, 80 players were selected to represent Football Alberta at either the U18 or U17 level.

Four local players are on the list for the U17 development team that will play in the Pacific Challenge in Maui, HI, USA, from Aug. 4-12 against local high schools.

Receiver Cody Peever of Sylvan Lake was the only offensive player from the region named to the team.

On defence, three Red Deer products made the grade. Hunting Hills defensive lineman Kyle Rees along with Joel DeMale were selected. From the Lindsay Thurber Raiders, Chase Pack was also on the list.

On June 16, the development team will take on Team Saskatchewan U17 at Great Chief Park in Red Deer.
