The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs skated to a pair of ties in Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League play on the weekend.

Saturday, the Optimist Chiefs tied 2-2 with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on the road. Kyle Wallace and Ben Perreault had goals for Red Deer, while Ben Christian, Jayden Henderson and Andrew Wallace drew assists. Logan Breen stopped 36 shots in the tie.

Sunday at Servus Arena, Red Deer allowed a goal with just under a minute to play and settled for a 4-4 draw with the Calgary Flames.

Four different Optimist Chiefs hit the scoresheet in the tie as Tristan Baumung, Tyson Perkins, Ty Daneault, and Henderson all had goals. Henderson also had an assist, along with kyle Wallace, Tyler MacKenzie, Kaleb Kremp and Kaiden Ellertson.

Colby Knight stopped 24 shots on the afternoon.
