One day after Red Deer Rebels forward Brandon Hagel collected Western Hockey League Player of the Week honours, he did the same for the CHL.

The 18-year-old forward from Morinville, had a week to remember in the final four contests of the WHL regular season.

Hagel scored six goals and added six assists and to top it off was named first star in two of the four games.

He also recorded four-point nights in three of four games.

A sixth round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2016, Hagel had a banner season this year with 31 goals and 40 assists in 65 games.

The Rebels alternate captain beat out Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Daniel Sprong of the Charlottetown Islanders who had seven points in three games and Owen Sound Attack centre Ethan Szypula who had 10 assists in 11 games.

Hagel will be a key contributor when the Rebels face off against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on March 25 in the first round of the WHL playoffs.
