Local customers of LA Weight Loss will have to look elsewhere for help shedding pounds.
The diet centre in Red Deer’s Heritage Village at 5212 48th St. is locked up, its door and windows covered in paper. A note on the door said “this LA Weight Loss location will no longer be in operation.” It directed inquiries to lawlho@telus.net.
Other media reported that LA Weight Loss centres across Alberta have closed. A letter sent to customers blamed the closures on “ongoing financial problems,” and said the last day of operations was Wednesday.
The letter said home service for customers could be obtained through the LA Weight Loss North Dakota franchise, including telephone counselling and shipment of products. It added that the North Dakota franchise would not be responsible for any outstanding orders.
The letter said customers could also utilize LA Weight Loss’s online program at www.latoyourdoor.com.
Calls to the Red Deer store and LA Weight Loss’s 1-800 number were not answered, and there was no reply to an email sent to the address listed on the local notice.
LA Weight Loss provides customers with dietary programs, food products and counselling. Its Red Deer store opened in November 2005.
