Plenty of space is still to be leased, but a commercial building being developed in south Red Deer is taking on a strong health and wellness flavour.

A medical clinic, pharmacy, dental office and yoga studio are among the confirmed tenants in 32nd Street Crossing — a nearly 26,000-square-foot building that is currently under construction at 4758 32nd St.

Brett Salomons, an associate with leasing agent with Ralph Salomons Commercial Inc., said the medical clinic will occupy the entire 4,800 square feet of space on the building’s second floor, plus about 1,200 square feet on the main floor.

The dental clinic and the yoga studio — which is slated to operate as The Breathing Room — will each occupy approximately 2,600 square feet, and the pharmacy will take about 2,000 square feet.

Salomons said he cannot provide further details about the tenants at this time.

Discussions with other prospective tenants are ongoing, he said.

“We do have some interest on other ones that we’ve been going back and forth on.”

Construction is on schedule, with contractor Shunda Consulting and Construction Management Ltd. expected to turn units over to tenants for leasehold improvements by the beginning of June, said Salomons.

“You’re probably going to see businesses open within 60 to 90 days of June 1.”

32nd Street Crossing is going up at the former site of Red Deer County’s headquarters, which the county vacated in 2003 and was demolished in 2005.

The new building fronts onto 49th Avenue to the west and is bordered by 32nd and 33rd streets to the south and north.
