Acclaimed banker to speak at chamber of commerce luncheon

One of the first public presentations to be made by Alberta Venture magazine’s Alberta’s Business Person of the Year for 2009 will take place in Red Deer.

One of the first public presentations to be made by Alberta Venture magazine’s Alberta’s Business Person of the Year for 2009 will take place in Red Deer.

Larry Pollock, Canadian Western Bank’s president and CEO, has been named by the publication as its choice for the annual award. Among his achievements has been leading Canadian Western Bank to 85 consecutive profitable quarters.

Pollock was already scheduled to speak at the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassador’s Luncheon on Dec. 16. He is expected to provide his outlook for 2010.

In addition to leading the Edmonton-headquartered chartered bank since 1990, Pollock has been president and CEO of Canadian Western Trust since 1996, was regional vice-president with Lloyds Bank for Toronto and Calgary, and has served as a director of WestJet Airlines Ltd. and Epcor Utilities, Inc.

He is featured in the December issue of Alberta Venture, and will be recognized at the Alberta’s Business Person of the Year award luncheon in Edmonton on Jan. 14.

The Ambassador’s Luncheon will be held at the North Hill Inn from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $20 for Chamber members and $23 for non-members, with registration required by Dec. 14.
