Chamber urges fiscal responsibility

The Red Deer Chamber of Commerce is urging the provincial government to be fiscally responsible and sensitive to the needs of business when it unveils its 2010 budget next Tuesday.

The Red Deer Chamber of Commerce is urging the provincial government to be fiscally responsible and sensitive to the needs of business when it unveils its 2010 budget next Tuesday. In a news release issued on Thursday, the Chamber said Alberta’s new financial plan should support a strategy for getting the province out of its deficit position with spending controls rather than tax hikes. It would also like to see promotion of business recovery and growth through tax relief, improved trading relations and more foreign direct investment. Agriculture should be supported through new opportunities and reduced trade barriers, said the Chamber, and greater economic diversification sought through innovation and attraction of manufacturing and green technologies.
