Clinic proposed for Sylvan

Some local doctors are poised to develop a new clinic in town.

SYLVAN LAKE — Some local doctors are poised to develop a new clinic in town.

Sylvan Lake council has authorized a development permit for a proposed medical centre and pharmacy on the northeast corner of 50th Avenue and 46th Street, said Mike Dandurand of Mike Dandurand Realty Inc.

Dandurand, who is project co-ordinator, confirmed that doctors Johannes Myburg and Rudi Niemand plan to practise on the main floor of the two-storey building, along with a mental health specialist.

Myburg and Niemand currently operate the Sylvan Lake Medical Clinic at 5026 50th St.

A pharmacy would also operate on the ground level, said Dandurand, with space on the second floor to be used by other health-related professionals.

The two floors would consist of about 11,500 square feet, with a full basement also expected to be developed.

The land where the building would be constructed is currently vacant.

Dandurand said work could begin this year, weather permitting.

“If not, then we’ll start in the new year as soon as we can.”

He praised Sylvan Lake town council and administration for their support of the project.
