Deer Park Shopping Centre has changed hands for the second time in just over five years.
Huntingdon Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: HNT.UN) announced on Wednesday that it has sold the 69 Dunlop St. commercial property for $16.1 million. The buyer was not identified, but a land titles search indicates the current owner is Solomen Samuel Bell of Calgary.
Deer Park Shopping Centre is anchored by Red Deer Co-op, which operates a grocery store, a liquor store and a gas bar with a car wash there. Other tenants of the 58,000-square-foot shopping centre include Servus Credit Union, Safari Spa & Salon, Chillabongs, Subway restaurant, Image Dental Studio, Dairy Queen and Medi Cross Family and Walk-in Clinic.
Richmond, B.C.-based Huntingdon owns office, industrial, retail, development and parking lot properties across Canada. It bought Deer Park Shopping Centre from a company controlled by Red Deer businessman Sam Wong in November 2005, paying $11.6 million.
The shopping centre was developed in 1989 by Gulf Pacific Investments Ltd. of Vancouver.
