Master diamond cutter Gabriel Tolkowsky shows Red Deer Mayor Morris Flewwelling a replica of a 599 ct. uncut diamond he cut and polished during a visit to Mitchell and Jewell on Monday. The result of his work was a 273 ct. diamond valued at $100 million. Tolkowsky was in Red Deer on Monday to give a presentation to Eastview Middle School students as part of their science unit on light and optical systems. Later in the afternoon Tolkowsky and Dick Jewell made a presentation to Mayor Flewelling in the form of a diamond cut in the Triple Brilliant Design first cut by Tolkowsky. The diamond pendant necklace will be awarded to a charity in Red Deer in the near future and sold as a fundraiser.
