The Red Deer Downtown Business Association is looking for help in shaping the future of the downtown.

The Red Deer Downtown Business Association is looking for help in shaping the future of the downtown. Nominations are being sought for positions on the association’s board of directors, with these running for a three-year term from January 2011 to December 2013. A release issued by the association said the directors’ role is to set policy, review progress and provide direction for the organization. Attendance at monthly board meetings and an annual meeting is required, as is involvement in organizational events and committees. Nominations should include a 50- to 100-word outline that contains the nominee’s name, business, position, motivation for seeking election and anticipated contributions. These should be sent to the Red Deer Downtown Business Association office or emailed to info@downtownreddeer.com.

To be eligible, candidates must operate or be employees of a Red Deer business that pays the business revitalization zone levy. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 1 at 5 p.m.
