E! coming back to Canada
TORONTO — The celebrity-obsessed E! channel is coming back to Canada.
CTV and Comcast International Media Group say the entertainment channel will begin airing Nov. 29 and takes over a spot on the dial occupied by Star!.
CTV says the Canadian channel will feature 50 per cent local programming, including 40 per cent in prime time.
It’s expected to be available in more than 6.2 million Canadian households.
E! aired previously in Canada — including in Red Deer — under the ownership of Canwest Global, now known as Shaw Media. But the network was sold and rebranded amid financial woes, with the Red Deer station ceasing operations in August 2009.
More details on the schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
