Home sales in Red Deer slowed last month, with 126 deals processed through the Multiple Listing Service — down from 150 in March and 156 in April 2010.

Home sales in Red Deer slowed last month, with 126 deals processed through the Multiple Listing Service — down from 150 in March and 156 in April 2010.

Residential real estate activity did increase elsewhere in the region covered by the Central Alberta Realtors Association, with 185 sales last month, as compared with 180 in March and 177 last April.

The average selling price in Red Deer last month, including residential properties of all types, was $282,140. In March it was $291,400, and last April the figure was $321,009.

Outside the city, the average home price in April 2011 was $225,749. That compares with a figure of $241,400 in March and $250,620 a year ago.

The number of new residential listings in Red Deer so far this year is 16 per cent lower than for the same period in 2010. For the outlying area, new listings are down 14 per cent.
